This Privacy Policy explains what information TrueLie LLC (“TrueLie,” “we”) collects through the TrueLie app, how we use it, and your choices. TrueLie is for adults 18+ in the United States.
1. Information you give us
- Account: email address, password (stored securely by our authentication provider), name, and username.
- Profile: profile photo, handicap, Venmo username, and optional details like home course and location.
- Golf activity: rounds, scores, games, formats, teams, stakes you enter, results, and payouts.
- Trips and Crews: itineraries, tee times, members, expenses and trip costs, payment records you mark as paid, and photos.
- Messages: direct messages and group/trip chat.
- Friends and invitations: friend requests, friend lists, invitations, and blocks/reports.
2. Information collected automatically
- Push notification token, so we can send notifications you've allowed.
- App and device information needed to run and update the app, such as app version and device type.
- Crash and diagnostic data (for example, error reports) to find and fix problems.
- Subscription status from Apple and our subscription provider. We never receive your payment card details.
We don't use your device's location, and we don't track you across other companies' apps or websites.
3. How we use information
- To provide the Service: scoring, handicaps, games, trips, Crews, chat, photos, Memory Cards, and settlement records.
- To send notifications you've turned on (friend requests, invitations, game and trip updates, reminders).
- To manage subscriptions and premium access.
- To keep the Service safe: preventing abuse, enforcing our Terms, and handling reports.
- To fix bugs and improve the app.
- To communicate with you about your account or support requests.
We don't sell your personal information, and we don't use it for third-party advertising.
4. What other users can see
- Trip, Crew, and game members can see your name, username, profile photo, handicap, and Venmo username, plus the scores, messages, photos, and records you share in that trip, Crew, or game.
- People you invite to watch a live round (Pulse spectators) can see that round's live activity.
- Your private account details — such as email, notification settings, subscription status, and push token — are not visible to other users.
5. Service providers
We use trusted companies to run TrueLie. They process information only on our behalf:
- Supabase — database, authentication, file storage, and server functions
- Expo — push notification delivery and app updates
- Apple — app distribution, push notifications, and in-app purchases
- RevenueCat — subscription management
- Golf course data provider — course search (receives search terms, not your personal profile)
- Hosting provider for notification services [confirm: Replit or other]
- Crash reporting provider [confirm: e.g., Sentry, once added]
When you tap a payment link (like Venmo), you're using that company's service under its own privacy policy.
We may also share information if required by law, to protect people's safety or our rights, or as part of a merger or sale of the business (with notice to you).
6. Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your information while your account is active. You can delete your account in the app (Settings), which deletes your account and personal profile. Some records you shared with others — like scores in a completed group game or messages in a group chat — may remain visible to those members as part of their history, without your profile details where possible. Backups are cleared on a regular schedule. We may keep limited information when required by law.
7. Your choices and rights
- Edit your profile and notification settings anytime in the app.
- Turn off push notifications in your iPhone settings.
- Block or report users in the app.
- Delete your account in the app.
- Depending on your state, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete your personal information. Contact us at support@truelie.app and we'll respond as required by law.
8. Security
We use industry-standard safeguards, including encrypted connections and access controls that limit who can see what. No system is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security.
9. Age requirement
TrueLie is only for people 18 and older. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 has an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
10. Changes
We'll post updates here and change the effective date. For material changes, we'll notify you in the app or by email.
