TrueLie started as one guy's annual buddies golf trip — and the group text, spreadsheet, and unpaid Venmo requests that came with it. It's grown into the digital clubhouse: your trip, your rules, your clubhouse.
TrueLie didn't start as a business plan — it started as an annual buddies golf trip that our founder has organized for years. Every year, the same three problems showed up: tee times buried under a wall of memes in the group text, a shared spreadsheet nobody fully trusted, and at least one guy who said he'd Venmo everyone later and never quite did.
None of those are golf problems. They're logistics and money problems that happen to get in the way of golf. So TrueLie was built to take care of the parts of a buddies trip that have nothing to do with your swing — the planning, the scoring, the standings, and the settling up — so the crew can just play.
That's the whole idea behind TrueLie. Most golf apps are built around solo stat tracking or formal league play. TrueLie is built around the trip — the crew you actually play with, the games you actually play, and the money that actually needs to get settled at the end.
Everything below lives in the same app, built to work together rather than as five separate tools bolted side by side.
Courses, lodging, tee times, and expenses — the whole trip in one place.
Plan a trip →Build a standing crew, set roles, and keep one running leaderboard all year.
How crews work →Two separate systems: a points race with a trophy case, and a standalone Ryder Cup format. Use either one, or both.
See how it works →Trip planning, every game format, Crews, and the full Ryder Cup & Trophies experience are free, forever. The moment a real dollar amount gets logged or needs to change hands, that's Settling Up — the one paid layer in the app.
TrueLie is currently in development, with iOS launching first and an Android version in the pipeline behind it. Most of the 12 game formats are already live in testing; a few more — like Bingo Bango Bongo and fully custom house rules — are queued for a future release.
