01

Stroke Play Stroke

The classic — every shot counts
Rules
  • Every player plays their own ball for all 18 holes
  • Every stroke, including penalty strokes, counts toward the total
  • No holes are conceded — you hole out every time
Scoring
  • Lowest total strokes for the round wins
  • Can be scored gross (no handicap) or net (handicap strokes applied)
Individual Stroke play Gross or net
02

Stableford Points

Points, not strokes
Rules
  • Each hole earns points based on your score relative to par
  • Standard scale: bogey = 1, par = 2, birdie = 3, eagle = 4
  • A blow-up hole caps out at zero rather than wrecking your total
Scoring
  • Highest total points for the round wins
  • Can be played net, applying handicap strokes hole by hole before points are awarded
Individual Points format Rewards aggressive play
03

Skins Wager

Win the hole, win the pot
Rules
  • Outright lowest score on a hole wins the skin
  • A tie for lowest score carries the skin to the next hole
  • Carryovers stack, so later holes can be worth multiple skins
  • Optional presses can be called mid-round
Payout
  • A fixed value is set per skin before the round
  • Settling up who won which skins is handled in Settling Up, TrueLie's paid tier
Any crew size Wager format Scoring is free
04

Nassau Wager

Three bets in one round
Rules
  • The round splits into three separate bets: front nine, back nine, and full 18
  • Each segment is scored on its own, typically match play
  • A press can be called when a player or team goes 2 down, opening a new bet for the remaining holes
Scoring
  • Match play or stroke play within each of the three segments
  • Payouts per segment are tracked separately, then totaled in Settling Up
1v1 or team Wager format Presses supported
05

Rabbit Points

Catch it, keep it
Rules
  • The "rabbit" starts loose — unclaimed — on hole 1
  • The first player to win a hole outright (no ties) catches the rabbit
  • The rabbit changes hands each time a different player wins a hole outright
  • The rabbit resets and starts loose again at the turn for the back nine
Scoring
  • Whoever holds the rabbit at the end of the front nine wins that segment
  • Whoever holds it at the 18th wins the back nine segment
Crew format Front & back split Rewards consistency
06

Match Play Wager

Hole-by-hole head to head
Rules
  • Played player vs. player, or team vs. team
  • Lowest score on a hole wins that hole
  • Equal scores halve the hole
  • The match is scored by holes won, not total strokes
Scoring
  • Leader is "up" by the number of holes won
  • Match ends early once the lead is greater than the holes remaining
1v1 or team Match play Can end before 18
07

Best Ball Stroke

Your own ball, team's best score
Rules
  • Every player plays their own ball for the entire hole
  • No shot selection or combining — it's a normal round for each player
  • The team's score for the hole is the lowest individual score among teammates
Scoring
  • Team totals (of best-ball scores) compared to par or to other teams
  • Can be played gross or net
Teams of 2–4 Stroke or match Everyone plays out
08

Scramble Stroke

Best-ball team format
Rules
  • Every player on the team tees off
  • The team picks the best of the drives
  • All players play their next shot from that spot
  • Repeat for every shot until the ball is holed
Scoring
  • One team score is recorded per hole
  • Team stroke total compared to par or to other teams
Teams of 2–4 Stroke play Beginner friendly
09

Shamble Stroke

Scramble off the tee, best ball after
Rules
  • Every player tees off; the team picks the best drive
  • From that spot, each player plays their own ball in for the rest of the hole
  • Combines the forgiveness of a scramble tee shot with an individual finish
Scoring
  • Team score for the hole is the best individual score after the shared tee shot
  • Some crews count the best two scores instead of just one
Teams of 2–4 Stroke play Hybrid format
10

Vegas Wager

Two-player teams, combined scores
Rules
  • Two 2-player teams; each team's two scores on a hole combine into a two-digit number, lower score first (a 4 and a 6 becomes "46")
  • The two teams' numbers are compared, and the difference sets the points won for the hole
  • A "flip" rule often applies if a player triples their partner's score, swapping the digit order to punish the blow-up
Scoring
  • Point difference is multiplied by a per-point value to settle the hole
  • Running total settles at the end of the round
2v2 Wager format High variance
11

Wolf Points

A rotating partner pick, every hole
Rules
  • The "wolf" role rotates to a new player each hole
  • After watching each tee shot, the wolf picks a partner for the hole — or plays alone for double points
  • Once a partner is chosen, that pairing stands for the rest of the hole
Scoring
  • Points awarded per hole based on which side scores lower
  • A lone wolf who wins the hole scores double
4 players Points format Rotates every hole
12

Alternate Shot Wager

Foursomes — one ball, two players
Rules
  • Partners share a single ball for the hole
  • Players alternate hitting every shot
  • Tee shots alternate by hole, regardless of who holed out last
  • One score is recorded per hole for the pair
Scoring
  • Team stroke total vs. par, or vs. the opposing pair in match play
Pairs Stroke or match Ryder Cup session
Payouts
